Brekiz: 10 free daily word games in one platform

Brekiz is the French-language word game platform that brings together 10 free daily challenges in a single community space. Every day, you get a fresh set of puzzles: a Hangman, a semantic word finder (Cémentix), a Wordle-style daily word (Wordus), a letter-chain puzzle (Lettris), a visual reflex test (Réflexe), a Wikipedia-based clue game (Pédentix), an anagram game (Anagramix), a flag-guessing game (Drapaix), a Word Search and a Crossword. Each game resets at midnight, keeps a global leaderboard, and feeds into a weekly league competition.

Unlike sites that offer only one game, Brekiz gives you a complete daily routine. You can play all 10 in 15–20 minutes, compete on daily and monthly rankings, earn badges, level up from Novice to "Le Boss" (level 50), and compare your progress with friends through private groups. Everything is free — no paywall, no limited attempts, no artificial friction.

The 10 Brekiz daily games explained

Pendu (Hangman)

The Brekiz Hangman is a modernized version of the classic paper game. You must discover a hidden French word by suggesting letters one at a time. Each wrong letter adds a body part to the gallows. The challenge: find the word before 10 wrong guesses. Scoring rewards speed and precision — a victory with zero errors earns double points. Strategy tip: start with the most frequent French letters (E, A, I, S, T, N) before guessing specific consonants.

Cémentix (Semantic word finder)

Cémentix is powered by a word2vec model trained on millions of French texts. You must find a target word by proposing words and receiving a similarity score from 0 to 100. The closer to 100, the more semantically similar your word is to the target. The challenge: the algorithm evaluates meaning, not spelling — "dog" and "puppy" score higher similarity than "dog" and "fog." Most players need 20–50 attempts on a typical day. Finding the word under 5 attempts earns the rare "Cémentix Instinct" badge.

Wordus (Wordle-style daily word)

Wordus is the Brekiz adaptation of the global Wordle phenomenon. Each day, find the secret French word in up to 7 attempts. The word length varies from day to day — the grid always shows the exact number of tiles. After each guess: green tiles show correct letters in the right position, yellow tiles show correct letters in the wrong position, gray tiles eliminate letters. A good opening word covering the most common French vowels and consonants speeds up the resolution significantly.

Lettris (Letter chain puzzle)

Lettris is a real-time word construction game. You receive a set of letters and must form valid French words as fast as possible before the timer runs out. Longer words score exponentially more: a 4-letter word scores 4 points, a 7-letter word scores 35 points, an 8-letter word scores 50 points. The game tests both vocabulary range and speed of lexical retrieval — a combination that improves with practice.

Réflexe (Visual reaction time)

Réflexe measures your visual reaction time in milliseconds. When a target appears on screen, you must click as fast as possible. The game uses anti-anticipation mechanics to prevent cheating by clicking before the target appears. Your score is compared to thousands of players daily. Average reaction time for adults: 200–250ms. Elite players consistently score under 180ms. Fatigue, caffeine, and screen distance all measurably affect performance.

Pédentix (Wikipedia clue game)

In Pédentix, you must identify a Wikipedia article from progressively revealed words. Each guess — whether correct or not — reveals additional words from the article. The less words you need before finding the answer, the higher your score. Articles cover a wide range: historical figures, countries, animals, films, scientific concepts, world events. The game rewards broad general knowledge and systematic deductive reasoning.

Anagramix (anagram of the day)

Anagramix gives you a daily word with its letters scrambled. Your job: rearrange the letters to recover the original word. The faster you solve it, the higher your score. Anagramix exercises your vocabulary, your spelling intuition, and your ability to spot typical French letter patterns (RE-, DÉ- prefixes, -TION, -MENT, -EUR suffixes). Perfect for fans of Scrabble anagrams and word-rearrangement puzzles.

Drapaix (flag of the day)

Drapaix blends geography and general knowledge. Each day, a flag is displayed and you must identify the matching country. Drapaix is a great way to refresh your world geography, discover lesser-known countries, and compare your knowledge with the Brekiz community on the daily leaderboard.

Word Search (Mots Mêlés)

The daily Word Search puzzle hides around a dozen themed words inside a letter grid. Find them all — horizontally, vertically, or diagonally — before the timer runs out. A relaxing yet sharp game that exercises concentration and visual acuity. Perfect for unwinding while staying mentally active.

Crossword (Mots Croisés)

The Brekiz Crossword brings back the timeless classic: a grid with across and down clues, to be filled in by crossing letters. The daily grid is unique and accessible to everyone. Ideal for building vocabulary, training your logic, and enjoying a quiet moment of thinking at your own pace.

The core Brekiz advantage: all 10 games share one profile, one progression system, and one competitive ecosystem. Your total performance across all games determines your league ranking — rewarding well-rounded players who master all game types.

The Brekiz progression system

Unlike one-game platforms where you play and forget, Brekiz invests every game into a long-term progression structure:

  • 50 XP levels: from Novice (Level 1) to "Le Boss" (Level 50). XP accumulates from every game, every win, every streak day. Your level never decreases.
  • 5-division weekly leagues: Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Diamond. Each week, your performance determines whether you get promoted, stay, or get relegated. The top ~25% advance; the bottom ~25% drop.
  • 75 permanent badges: win badges, streak badges, perfect-score badges, exploration badges, ranking badges, and secret badges. Once earned, never lost.
  • Consecutive streaks: play every day to grow your streak counter. Longer streaks multiply your XP and ranking points. Streak freezes protect your counter during unavoidable absences.
  • Private groups: create a group with friends or colleagues and compete on an internal leaderboard separate from global rankings.

Getting started: tips for new Brekiz players

If you have just created your Brekiz account, here are the most important things to know to start strong:

  • Play all 10 games each day: even with poor scores, playing all 10 earns a "Grand Tour" XP bonus and maximizes your league points. Consistency beats occasional excellence.
  • Protect your streak: use streak freezes wisely. Your daily streak multiplier compounds over time — a 30-day streak can double your daily XP gains.
  • Focus on Cémentix early: the semantic word game has the steepest learning curve. The more you play, the better you develop intuition for word similarity clusters.
  • Open Wordus with strategic first words: ALERTES, ALOURIS, or ÉTALONS cover the most frequent French letters. A strong opening reduces the search space significantly.
  • Chase easy badges first: the first-win badges and early streak badges (7 days, 15 days) give significant XP bonuses. Use the badge list to identify which ones are closest to unlock.
